A sundae costs $4.50 with 2 toppings. Additional toppings cost 60 cents. Write an inequality to tell how many additional toppings you can get if you have no more than $8.25 to spend on your sundae?

Answer:

4.5 +0.6x </= 8.25

Explanation:

4.5 + 0.6x </= 8.25

4.50 is the base price, 0.6 times the number of toppings allowed has to be less than or equal to 8.25.

If you need to solve it:

0.6x </= 3.75

x </= 6.25

Since you can't have a partial topping, the answer would be no more than 6.
