Barbara saw her favorite band, Royal Gems, perform on Friday night. She paid $77.50 for a ticket to the show. She also had to pay for the 4 hours her car was parked in the parking garage. Barbara spent a total of $89.50.

Which equation can you use to find x, how much it cost for each hour Barbara's car was parked in the garage?

Answer:

cost for each hour her car was parked in garage = $3

Explanation:

Let the cost every hour car parked in garage be x.

4x + $77.50 = $89.50 ......4* x because the car had been 4 hours in garage.

4x = $89.50 - $77.50

4x = $12

x = $12 / 4

x = $3
