Answer: Three criticism are produced of the College: It's "autocratic;" Requires the selection of a candidate who does not win the most votes; and. Its winner-take-all method cancels the votes of the defeated candidates in each state. Reasons it's still useful include; The forefathers codified a Popular Vote in the US Constitution because they felt it was the only way to select the president. The Electoral College shall ensure that almost all parts of the world are included in the appointment of the Leader of the Free World. An Electoral College promises assurance regarding the actual result of the presidential race. Reasons it's not useful include; The motives for the formation of the Electoral College by the framers of the constitution could no longer be valid. The Electoral College provides so much control to "key states" and requires a handful of states to vote on the presidential race. Any individuals could be against the wishes of the Electoral College.
