After that subtract the area of circle from the area of the square.

area of square=side²

area of square =14²

area of square=196cm²

area of circle=pi×radius²

radius=14/2=7

area of circle=22/7×(7)²

area of circle =22/7×49

area of circle =154cm²

area of shaded region=area of square - area of circle

area of shaded= 196cm²-154cm²

area of shaded=42cm²
