Answer:

Pablo: $17

Yolanda: $8

John: $68

Explanation:

Represent Yolanda with Y, Pablo with P and John with J.

So, we have:

Y + P + J = 93

Y = P - 9

J = 4P

Required

Determine the amount each has

Substitute the expressions for Y and J in
Y + P + J = 93

P-9 + P + 4P = 93

Collect Like Terms

P + P + 4P = 93 + 9

6P =102

Make P the subject

P = (102)/(6)

P = 17

Substitute 17 for P in
Y = P - 9 and
J = 4P

Y = 17 - 9

Y = 8

J = 4P

J = 4*17

J = 68
