Well, for one thing, your teacher must see a lot of potential in you if she moved you up a level!

Answer:

Linda has 3/8 yards of fabric left.

Explanation:

Ok, so forget 1 "yard." That'll just confuse you. Just say, Linda has 1. She used 5/8 of it. How much does she have left? So, Linda breaks her 1 into 8 pieces, and she throws away 5 of them. How many does she have left? Basically, just subtract 5 from 8. What does that give you? 3! Linda has 3/8 yards of fabric left.

I hope this helps, and I'm sure you'll get it soon
