if the slope is 1/4, the equation is
y= 1/4 x- 3/4. Plug in -5 for x to get -2 for y

y= -2

Answer:

y = -2

Explanation:

using slope formula, you can create the following proportion:

y-(-1) = 1

-5-(-1) 4

cross-multiply:

4(y+1) = -4

4y + 4 = -4

4y = -8

y = -2
