What has history taught us about race and race relations in the U.S., and why, ultimately should we care?

This depends on the time period. During certain periods of time in the U.S. racism was at an all time high with Jim Crow Laws however many reformations were made. Through this we can see that the people have the ability to change. There are still some elements left over from the racism many people faced.
