3y = 6 ( divide both sides by 3 )

y = 2

Substitute y = 2 into either of the 2 equations and solve for x

Substituting into (2)

x + 2(2) = 5

x + 4 = 5 ( subtract 4 from both sides )

x = 1

solution is (1, 2 )
