Answer:

20km/hr

Explanation:

Given that a ship sailed 30km in one and a half hours. We need to find out the rate of ship in kilometres/hour . The rate is also called Speed.

Speed:- Distance travelled per unit time is called Speed .

Here , according to Question,

Distance = 30 km

Time = 1½ hrs .

We know that ,

\rm\implies Distance = Speed * Time

Subsequently ,

\rm\implies Time = (Distance)/(Time)

Substitute the respective values ,

\rm\implies Rate =( 30km)/( 1.5 hrs )

We can write 1.5 as 3/2 , therefore ,

\rm\implies Rate = ( 2* 30)/(3) km/hr

Simplify the RHS ,

\rm\implies\boxed{\blue{\rm Rate = 20\ km/hr}}

Hence the Rate/Speed of the ship is 20km/hr .
