Why would plants and animals store carbohydrates​

Answer:

Why would plants store their energy as carbohydrates and not as fats, if fats are a more efficient energy store? Plants synthesize glucose from carbon dioxide, animals ingest carbohydrates in their diet and break them down into monosaccherides.

Excess carbohydrates are stored as starch in plants and as glycogen in animals, ready for metabolism if the energy demands of the organism suddenly increase
