Jordan
The monarch holds wide executive and legislative powers, including the appointment of the prime minister and all seats of the senate. The monarch approves and dismisses judges; signs, executes and vetoes all laws; and can suspend or dissolve parliament. The prime minister is responsible for advising the king and executing the executive daily tasks as head of the government.
Iran
Iran is a theocracy. According to its constitution, its laws and regulations must be based on Islamic criteria. The supreme leader exerts ideological and political control over a system dominated by a council of clerics who shadow every major function of the state. Iran has a president, but their powers are limited to what the clerics tell him to do.
Great Britain
After an election, the monarch selects, as prime minister, the leader of the party most likely to command a majority of MPs in the House of Commons. Members of the House of Commons are elected to office by the people. The House of Lords, the higher house of Parliament, are selected by members of the House of Commons.
Ethiopia
Ethiopia has a three branch government that is elected by the public. All members of the government come from the same political party, and a controlled by the country’s prime minister. There is a president, but even that position is controlled by the prime minister, giving him total authority over the government.
