first find the area of the small rectangle:

a = w • l

w = 15 - 4 = 11
l = 30 - 8 =22

a = 22 • 11 = 242

now, find the area of the large rectangle:

a = 30 • 15 = 450

now subtract the small area from the large to find the shaded area:

450 - 242 = 208 cm
