The period of a pendulum is the time the pendulum takes to swing back and forth. The function L=0.81t^2 relates the length L in feet of a pendulum to the time t in seconds that it takes to swing back and forth. A convention center has a pendulum that is 50 feet long. Find the period.

Answer:

7.86seconds

Explanation:

Given the expression used to model the length of the pendulum as

L=0.81t^2 where t is the period

IF the pendulum is 50 feet long, then L = 50 feet

Substitute

50 = 0.81t^2

t² = 50/0.81

t² = 61.7283

t = 7.86 seconds

Hence the period is 7.86seconds
