First, we have to rearrange the given equation so that it results in a y=mx+b equation. To do this we can add -1/2x on both sides to remove it from the left side.

(+1/2x)-1/2x + 2y = 7(+1/2x)

2y = 1/2x +7

Now we can divide by 2 on both sides to isolate the y.

(2y)/2 = (1/2x +7)/2

y = 1/4x + 3.5

The slope is 1/4 :)
