Explanation:

The square at the bottom is 30 by 20 so that is 30 x 20 = 600.

Then the left triangle is equal to 30 inches by 20 inches, because the horizontal length total would be 10 + 20 + 10 = 40. So you can keep the 40 since there are two of the same triangles. 40 times 30 is also 600 and 600 +600 = 1200.

600 + 600 = 660.
