Absolute value describes the distance from zero that a number is on the number line, without considering direction. The absolute value of a number is never negative.

Answer:

the magnitude of a real number without regard to its sign.

Explanation:

For example, |-3| would just be a 3 in general, no negative sign in the front.

hope this answers your confusion.
