Given:

The diagram of the garden.

To find:

The area of the figure.

Solution:

Draw a line a and divide the given figure into two parts as shown below:

From the below figure it is clear that the line divides the figure in two parts:

1. Rectangle with sides 11 m and 8 m.

2. Twice with base (19-11)m = 8 m and height 8 m.

The area of the rectangle is


A_1=length * width


A_1=11* 8


A_1=88

The area of the triangle is


A_2=(1)/(2)* base * height


A_2=(1)/(2)* 8 * 8


A_2=(64)/(2)


A_2=32

Total area of the garden is


A=A_1+A_2


A=88+32


A=120

Therefore, the area of the given garden is 120 sq. m.
