Answer:

Sarah = 202.2 points

Robert = 8.4 points

James = 67.4 points

Explanation:

James = x point

Sarah = 3x point

Robert = x - 59 point

Total = £11.88

Each point = 3 pence

All students have a total of £11.88

1 pound = 100 pence

£11.88 pound = 1,111 pence

(x * 3) + (3x * 3) + (x - 59)3 = 1,188

3x + 9x + 3x - 177 = 1,188

15x = 1,188 - 177

15x = 1,011

x = 1,011 / 15

x = 67.4 points

James = x point

= 67.4 points

James = 67.4 points

Sarah = 3x point

= 3(67.4)

= 202.2 points

Sarah = 202.2 points

Robert = x - 59 point

= 67.4 - 59

= 8.4 points

Robert = 8.4 points
