In political theory, or political philosophy, John Locke refuted the theory of the divine right of kings and argued that all persons are endowed with natural rights to life, liberty, and property and that rulers who fail to protect those rights may be removed by the people, by force if necessary.

John locke believed in the “intrinsic” meaning natural, rights of all people and that these rights were inalienable, this way of thinking massively contributed to americas constitution, he also believed that there was no divine right, that no one had, or at least shouldn’t have, absolute power, and was also not chosen by god for their absolute rule.
