Can someone please tell me how to expand and simplify 4(x+1)^2?

[ i know now to expand brackets like (x+2)^2, but the 4 confuses me]

Expand the binomial first, then distribute the 4:

4 (x + 1)² = 4 (x ² + 2x + 1)

… = 4•x ² + 4•2x + 4•1

… = 4x ² + 8x + 4
