Explanation:

y+3x= 4.......(1)

y-4x= -10.......(2)

Subtract equation 2 from 1

y+3x= 4

-y-4x= -10

0+7x = 14

7x = 14

divide both sides by 7

7x = 14

x = 2

Substitute x=2 into equation 1

y = -3x + 4

y = -3(2) + 4

y = -6 + 4

y = -2

x = 2 and y = -2
