The question is: There are 28 girls and 22 boys on a swim team what percent of the team is made up of boys? explain why pls.

okay so 100% is equal to the whole team or 50 swimmers

100% = 50 swimmers

to find out how much one swimmer is would be to divide the 100% by the total of swimmers.

100% / 50 swimmers

2% = 1 swimmer

so now that we know how much percent 1 swimmer is we will multiply 2% by 22, the number of boy swimmers.

2 x 22 = 44

and since they are asking only for boys we need to put the number of boys on the numerator and the total number of people at the denominator

And now to make it into % we need to ALWAYS multiply the fraction by 100
