Δ ACB and Δ DCE are similar, so the ratios of corresponding sides are equal, that is


(AB)/(DE) =
(AC)/(DC) , substitute values


(x)/(12) =
(25)/(15) ( cross- multiply )

15x = 300 ( divide both sides by 15 )

x = 20

and


(CE)/(CB) =
(DC)/(AC) , substitute values


(y)/(10) =
(15)/(25) ( cross- multiply )

25y = 150 ( divide both sides by 25 )

y = 6
