if you multiply the numerator and denominator of 1/4 by 2 it equals 2/8
8/8 = 1
2/8 + ?/8 = 8/8
2 + ? = 8
2 + 6 = 8
the answer is 6
hope this helps!

6 is your answer
If you make common denominator would make it 2/8+( )/8=1
8-2= 6 to fill that numerator to make 1
