Is y=2x+3 a proportional relationship

Yes, and here's why.

When y= 2x + 3 is spread apart and broken down it can be explained like this:

y= Total value (It almost always represents a total)

2x= Slope (For example 2 plates per min where x would represent the ratio)

3= This is the Y intercept (Where the X and Y axis meet. It is also known as initial value)

So if I make this into an equation it could be shown like this:

y= 2x + 3 (The slope is 2x and represents how many flower pots someone makes in a minute, and the 3 represents 3 pots that were already made before the person started recording the data).

This is a proportional relationship because the slope will always be 2.

no, it does not represent a proportional relationship because it has a y-intercept therefore it won’t go through the origin.
