this is an example of the pythagorean theorem.
a^(2) +b^(2) =c^(2)

first you square a and b
9^(2) =81

then you add a and b
81+81=162

finally you find the square root of 162 and round it to the nearest 10th

√162= 12.7279 rounded to the nearest 10th 12.7
