Factorise this.

Let us solve by mid term factor.

Here, 8*1 = 8 and 4*2 = 8 and 4+2 = 6

Hence,

  • k² + 4k+2k + 8(Take k common in first two terms and 2 common in last two terms)
  • k(k+4) +2(k+4)( Take (k+4) common)
  • (k+4)(k+2)

Here clearly a = 4 and b = 2
