that means (x).(x).(x)

which gives x^3

multiply x by 5xy

that means (x).5.(x).(y)

which gives 5x^2y

myltiply -2xy by x^2

that means (-2).(x).(y).(x)

which gives -2x^3y

multiply -2xy by 5xy

that means (-2).(x).(y).(5).(x).(y)

which gives -10x^2 y^2
