The width of a rectangle is four less than one half the length. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 94 meters, find the area of the rectangle.

Answer: the area of the rectangle is 442 meters squared

Step-by-step explanation: L is length and W is width which is W = 1/2L - 4. Since perimeter is 2L + 2W, we substitute the variables that we found earlier.

94 = 2L + 2(1/2L -4).
94= 2L + L-8, solve this equation and get L = 34. Then , 94= 2(34) + 2W. Solve this and W = 13. Now area is W*L so 13*34 is 442.
