If f(x)=-5^3 and g(x)=x^2+x+10, find (g.f)(-2)

gf(-2) = 1570

Explanation:

A common thing that students do is find g(f) and then plug -2 which is not needed. So first work your way from the backside (f(-2) then whatever the answer plug in g( )) and find the answer.

So f(-2)= 5x^3 (just replace x with -2 or value in bracket)

f(-2)= 5*(-2)^3

f(-2)= -40

g(-40)= (-40)^2+(-40)+10

gf(-2) = 1570
