Answer:

UV = 12 , SV = 31

Explanation:

given that S, T, U and V all le on the line SV , then

SV = ST + TU + UV ( substitute corresponding values and solve for x )

4x - 29 = 13 + 6 + 2x - 18 ( simplify right side )

4x - 29 = 2x + 1 ( subtract 2x from both sides )

4x - 2x - 29 = 2x - 2x + 1 ( simplify both sides )

2x - 29 = 1 ( add 29 to both sides )

2x - 29 + 29 = 1 + 29 ( simplify both sides )

2x = 30 ( divide both sides by 2 )

(2)/(2) x =
(30)/(2) , that is

x = 15

Then substituting x = 15

UV = 2x - 18 = 2(15) - 18 = 30 - 18 = 12

SV = 4x - 29 = 4(15) - 29 = 60 - 29 = 31
