x = 12 or option D

Explanation:

The lengths of each polygon are similar meaning that their sides are the same compared to each other just different sizes just different sizes.

That means to find x and y the sides would have to be the same fractions when you divide them by each other.

And since the only one we know is 12 then that is what we will be using.

They give us answer choices so we can just use these to make the fractions by dividing them by 12.

To get a fraction you have to divide a smaller number by a bigger number.

For y: since 8/12 is equal to 2/3 we have to find what else would equal 2/3

15 + 3 = 18 and 12/18 is equal to 2/3

So y = 15

For x: since 6/8 is equal to 3/4 we have to find what else would equal 3/4

12 - 3 = 9 and 9/12 = 3/4

So x = 12
