During may,Javier swims 80 laps each weekend. During June he swims 60 laps each weekday. What is the percent of change from may to June? Is it an increase or decrease?

Answer:

25% Decrease

Explanation:

You take 60 and divide it by 80, giving you a number lower than one so automatically a decrease, then you just take 1 and subtract your number in this case 0.75, your answer comes out to 0.25 and you multiply that by 100 or move the decimal over to the right two places and adding a percent sign at the end 25%.

Now for the future, given you get a number such as 0.72295, you round up typically at the 5 at the end giving you 0.72210 but of course, the 10 goes into the 2 so you actually have 0.7230 then you'd move the decimal, and get 72.30%.
