DTC (Diagnostic trouble code) P0705 PNP (park/neutral position) switch circuit is being diagnosed. Technician A says this code sets when the TCM (Transmission Control Module) or PCM (powertrain control module) does not receive the correct voltage signal from the park/neutral position (PNP) switch. Technician B says the park/neutral position (PNP) switch circuit could be open or shorted. Who is right?

Technician A is correct because the P0705 diagnostic trouble code sets when the Transmission Control Module (TCM) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM) does not receive the correct voltage signal from the Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch. This can happen when the PNP switch is not functioning properly due to a wiring issue, a defective switch, or a problem with the connection between the PNP switch and the TCM or PCM.
