A file won’t open on your friend’s computer, which leads to the inevitable question: “Why do there even need to be different file types, anyway?” How would you respond?

Different files are for different kinds of things like pictures and videos so they each have there own file

Different file types are for different things. You can’t have a jpeg file try to run a video, that type is meant for pictures.
