Answer:

See below.

Explanation:

Do all the words intimidate you? Just get out a pencil and paper and start breaking it down.

First: the 2nd digit is 5 more than the first (or tens) digit. That sounds like addition, doesn't it?

So if the first number is 1, what's the 2nd? 1 plus 5 is 6, right?

Then 2 gives 7, 3 gives 8, and 4 gives 9. Make sense?

Can we use 5? No, because 5 + 5 is 10, and that's not a single digit.

So there are only 4 possibilities to evaluate:

  • 16
  • 27
  • 38
  • 49

Agree?

Next are all those words about "45 more than." But you know what? Look at the last sentence: "sum of the digits is 11"

Look back at those 4 numbers: which of the digits sum to 11?

That's your answer.

But check your answer: flip it around and see if the new number is "45 more than the original number."

Sorry for not just giving you the number, but you need to learn how to process word problems. Believe it or not, life is full of word problems.

If you like this kind of answer, give me a thanks. If not, I won't bother you anymore. Take care.
