Answer:

x= price of the cd

new price 1st CD: 0.95x

new price 2nd CD: 1.15x

After this change the price of the two CDs differ by $6.00.

1.15x-0.95x=6

0.2x = 6

x=30

price of the cd: $30

the 1st reduction of 5%, new price: 30*0.95=28.5e

the 2nd increases by 15%, new price: 30*1.15=$34.5

the cheapest today costs $28.5
