How "big" (size and power) should the government be? What are some pros and cons to increasing power for the federal government?

We all don't want the government to be "too" big since it has a lot of power already. It would be acceptable if the government was just a little bit bigger, as it would help the country. Some pros to increasing power may be that we could increase standards, more budget money , etc. Some cons may be that some people may take the power as an advantage which won't be fun.
