A scientist uses a submarine to study ocean life.

She begins 168 feet below sea level.
After traveling down for 20 seconds, she's 254 feet below sea level.

Find the rate of change in the submarine's elevation in feet per second. If necessary, round your answer to the nearest tenth.

Answer:

4.3feet/s

Explanation:

Initial Distance = -168 feet

Final Distance = -254 feet

Decreased Distance = Final Distance - Initial Distance

= -254 - (-168)

= -254 + 168

= -86

It means that the submarine went 86 feet deep in water in 20s.

So the distance travelled in 1s = 86/20

= 43/10

= 4.3feet

So the Submarine went 4.3feet deep in 1 s i.e. 4.3feet/2
