In order for the extraction of metals from their ores, the metals must be in a molten form throughout the process. Metals typically have high melting points, this means they require extremely high temperatures in order to melt.
High temperatures require high energy and so high expenses.
These high temperatures must be maintained throughout the electrolysis process making the process rather expensive.
