One divided by two-fifths minus negative three-fifths.

1 / (2)/(5) - (-(3)/(5) )

In order to solve this problem correctly, we need to keep in mind the Order of Operations (PEMDAS).

PEMDAS says to do the division first.

1/(2)/(5) = 2.5

now we subtract
-(3)/(5) from 2.5 (or, in fraction form,
(5)/(2))

(5)/(2) - (-(3)/(5) )

Now, we can simplify this problem by remembering this: Subtracting a negative is the same as adding a positive.

So, we can rewrite it like this -

(5)/(2) + (3)/(5)

Then we also need to find the Least Common Denominator (LCD) of these two fractions before we can add them. I encourage you to figure this out yourself.

(25)/(10) + (6)/(10)

Now we add the numerators to get the answer.

25 + 6 = 31 so the solution is
(31)/(10)

Simplify

3 (1)/(10)

That is your final solution.

I hope you found this helpful!
