The slope is 2.

Explanation:

Slope is just "rise" over "run," or the change in y divided by the change in x.

Start at the point (0,2).

To get to the point (1,4) you have to move up 2 units on the y-axis, and right 1 unit on the x-axis.

So Δy = 2 and Δx = 1:

slope = 2/1 = 2

Note that if you started at the right-most point, (1,4), you'd go down 2 (which is negative) and left 1 (which is also negative), so you'd have:

-2/-1 = 2

The same answer, because the negatives cancel out.

So you can do it either way, it's just easier if you pick the first point to the be the left-most one.
