Answer:

x= 5, y=-2

Explanation:

1st equation: y=x-7 can also be written as -x+y= -7

2nd equation : 3x+ 7y=1

We multiply the first equation with 3 and we get: -3x + 3y = -21

Now we add both equations

3x + 7y=1

+ -3x + 3y = - 21

-----------------------------

ans: 0 + 10y = -20

10y=-20

y=-20/10

y = -2

Now we put the value of "y" in one of the equations to get the value of x :

y=x-7

-2 = x -7

-2 + 7 = x

5 = x
