Explanation:

x^2+ 5x-6=0

Always to apply the quadratic formula, the equation should be in the form of ax^2+bx+c=0

The quadratic formula is attached in the picture.

Just replace the values of a b and c with 1, 5 and -6

x= (-5±7)/2

The ± means that you have to + to get a value of x and then - to get another value of x so this equation will have 2 solutions.

x1= (-5+7)/2= 1

x2= (-5-7)/2= -6
