the figure can be divided into two rectangles,

area of rectangle = length * width

area of rectangle 1 = 4 * 7 = 28m²

area of rectangle 2 = 16 * 2 = 32m²

thus, area of figure = area of rectangle 1 + area of rectangle 2

= 28 + 32 = 60m²
