Answer:

1. 8

2 . 11

3 . √(128) \ or \ 8 \sqrt2

Explanation:

Distance = √((x_2 -x_1)^2 + (y_2 - y_1)^2 )

1 . ( 5 , - 2 ) and ( 5 , 6 )

Distance = √((5 -5)^2 + ( 6-(-2))^2) = √( 0 + 8^2 ) = √(64) = 8

2 . ( 8 , 6 ) and ( - 3 , 6 )

Distance = √(( -3 -8)^2 + ( 6 - 6)^2 ) = √( (-11)^2 + 0 ) = \sqrt { 121 } = 11

3. ( 5 , - 2 ) and ( -3 , 6 )

Distance = √((-3 - 5)^2 + ( 6 --2)^2) = √((-8)^2 + ( 8)^2) = √( 64 + 64 ) = √(128)

[ \ √(128) = √( 2 * 64) = √( 2 * 8^2 ) = 8 √(2) \ ]
