Answer: 4

Work Shown

(x_1,y_1) = (1,-6) \text{ and } (x_2,y_2) = (3,2)\\\\m = \text{slope} = \frac{\text{rise}}{\text{run}} = \frac{\text{change in y}}{\text{change in x}}\\\\m = \frac{\text{y}_(2) - \text{y}_(1)}{\text{x}_(2) - \text{x}_(1)}\\\\m = (2 - (-6))/(3 - 1)\\\\m = (2 + 6)/(3 - 1)\\\\m = (8)/(2)\\\\m = 4\\\\

Note: The terms "slope" and "gradient" mean the same thing.

A gradient, or slope, of 4 leads to 4/1

rise = 4 = go up 4

run = 1 = go right 1
