A number increased by 5 is equal to -3. Find the number.

Well ‘x’ is our number so what we do is write the equation

x - 5 = -3

so now your going to add five to cancel it out and also add five to the other side

x - 5 = -3
+ 5 +5
x = 2

so ‘x’ equals to 2. :)
