Explanation:

The surface area is the sum of surfaces of all walls.

The 3 visible walls are 2cm*3cm, 2cm*3cm and 2cm*2cm.

The 3 invisible walls are each identical to the parallell walls.

The surface area is

2 * (2cm*3cm + 2cm*3cm + 2cm*2cm) = 2 * (6cm^2 + 6cm^2 + 4cm^2) = 2 * 16cm^2 = 32cm^2
